Clear Aligners

Close up of a bearded Black man putting clear aligners on his teeth. One issue that millions of people struggle with is misaligned teeth. This can cause a drop in self-confidence and can actually be detrimental to your dental health as well. Teeth are harder to clean when they are not aligned correctly, meaning you will be more susceptible to cavities. You would also likely experience toothaches frequently and be more at risk of injury. SureSmile clear aligners are one way that we help you align your teeth without being obvious. This clear aligner has been used frequently and we can give you more information at Leavenworth Family Dental.

Benefits of Clear Aligner

The biggest appeal of Clear Aligners is that it is clear. Others cannot tell when you are wearing it, giving it a good amount of aesthetic appeal. In addition, it is very comfortable compared to some of its alternatives because it shifts the teeth very gradually. Clear Aligner is user-friendly as well. Though you will need to wear it for most of the day, you can easily take it off to eat and clean your mouth and the aligner. There is also less maintenance required with these.

Procedure

You will start by having a consultation with our dentist. We will examine your teeth and discuss all of your alignment options. If you choose Clear Aligner, we will get a dental mold for our lab to use in crafting your custom Clear Aligner. Our dentist will devise a treatment plan that includes the shape of the aligners that will change gradually to slowly shift your teeth into place. This treatment plan will have a different timeline for everyone, and the total treatment time is based on the severity of your misalignment.

Clear Aligner must be worn for most of the day, about 20 to 22 hours. You can take it off to eat, brush your teeth, and clean the aligner. Clear Aligner will also need to be changed out every two weeks, which is when you will pick up the next aligner at our dental office.

To clean your aligner, you should rinse them at least once a day (usually at night). At this time, you can also brush them gently using a toothbrush. For your oral hygiene, you should still brush twice daily and floss once a day. Because these are shifting your teeth, as with any other type of dental aligner, you may experience slight discomfort or achiness in your teeth. This is normal, but you should still reach out to us with any concerns.

Clear Aligner Alternatives

Clear Aligner is similar to braces in that it is a dental aligner. This means that rather than holding your teeth in place, they actively shift them into a new position. Alternative treatment options include traditional braces (metal or wire), ceramic braces, and lingual braces. Ceramic braces have tooth-colored or even clear brackets that attach to the teeth. Lingual braces are also similar to traditional braces except that the attachments are inside of the teeth.
